Workshop Essential Objectives: Guiding the Path to Success


Following are the general objectives of the Initiative:

  • Expose the students keen on a future career in the field of IT to the realities of the IT Industry at a critical stage of their lives.
  • Educate students on the opportunities, trends, technological developments and challenges of the sector.
  • Create a space for the youngsters, undergraduate students, academics and industry experts to come together for a mutual learning experience
  • Provide a platform for the academics and industry experts to know closely aspirations of the youngsters of Generation Z
  • Empower learners to address issues affecting businesses and communities and provide solutions through computing and IT

Following are specific objectives of the Programme:

  • Introduce students to gamification as a powerful learning tool
  • Expose students to collaborative learning as an effective learning method
  • Deepen their understanding on selected modules based on Advanced Level Syllabus
  • Give them an opportunity to have a hands-on experience of specific Software Applications
  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving capacity in students
  • Enable creativity and innovativeness in students
  • Lead them to appreciate teamwork as one of basic skills in IT industry

Purposes


Primary Purpose

The programme will create a space for the school children at a very critical stage in their lives to meet with undergraduate students, academics and industry experts while being exposed to latest technologies and trends in the field.

Secondary Purpose

Students will learn about the level of knowledge and skills that are necessary to be successful in IT related profession and will be motivated to plan their lives and further education to acquire them.

Ultimate Purpose

Further, academics and industry experts will have a grand opportunity to come to know the aspirations of the youngsters of the Generation Z as they develop their business models for the future success of the industry.

Initially, registration for the event must be completed via this website. As participation is limited to 10 students from a school, the team leader or designated teacher must provide and submit both school and student details in the registration form.

Students cannot take part in the event individually. They must join, representing their schools as a team of ten.

The event is open to schools located within the four administrative districts of Gampaha, Colombo, Puttalam and Kurunegala. However, the number of team members is limited to seventy-five schools and each team should have ten students.

The dates for the event will be notified in future. We urge interested participants to register as soon as possible to secure a spot in the competition. As the event draws closer, we will notify registered participants of the dates, times, and location of the event through regular updates on dedicated WhatsApp groups. This will ensure that participants are well-informed and can adequately prepare for the competition.

A team challenge is a task that requires a group of individuals to work together to achieve a common goal. There are several reasons for this preparation. Team challenges require individuals to work together where there is encouragement for collaboration, think creatively, helps to generate new ideas and approach problems from different angles and many more.

The presence of the teacher-in-charge is essential for the success of this event, as their guidance and mentorship can help students navigate any challenge that may arise. Teachers play a crucial role in providing academic and moral support to students, and their presence during team challenges can have a significant impact on the participants' overall experience.

The venue for this workshop is the BCI campus, which offers a beautiful and enriching environment for students to explore and enjoy.
